On January 9, 1776, writer Thomas Paine published his pamphlet “Common Sense.” In the 18th century pamphlets were used to spread ideas. Paine’s pamphlet advocated American Independence. As an inspiration to colonists to join the revolution, it is considered one of the most important pamphlets in American history.
